Hey fam and welcome back to dumb rich! I hope everyone has been having a fantastic week. Being honest, I’ve had a case of the uglies all week. I even got a spray tan (a risk, considering my only other one was in 2019) because desperate times call for desperate measures. The spray tan actually backfired because it SMELLS DISGUSTING?? No one mentions how sticky and gross it is. Not doing that again. Being under 5ft, I simply cannot afford to inch closer to Oompa Loompa territory. Thankfully, Cat Mignano, the beyond talented (and also humble and kind, which seems unfair tbh) of CAM Artistry and The Inside Out Club ACTUALLY saved my life and my uglies have been cured in time for a client event tonight! Prayers up. I’ll share pics.
Okay enough of my spiral and onto this week’s topic. You may not know this, but I love all things woo woo. Kind of off-brand since I’m an accountant and live in practical land where everything has to make cents (heh) but I really do believe in the power of manifestation. Sometimes, I manifest a little too close to the sun and end up actually having to work… a blessing and a curse.
In reality, the majority of success is mix of hard work and luck. My take on manifesting is mostly about getting super clear on what you want. Once you know exactly what you're working toward, all your decisions start moving you in that direction. It's about being specific and living in the feeling of that outcome to build the life you want. If people think you’re crazy, that’s fine — their loss!
When I met Rachel Onefater — a New York City–based Psychic Medium and Intuitive Healer, and the founder of Ora Mer — the connection was instant (at least for me, lol). I’ve had multiple readings with her, and every time, I leave feeling totally energized. Some of her insights have helped me get really clear on what I want in my career.
Today, she’s our very special guest on dumb rich, here to teach us about understanding our relationship with money from a spiritual perspective. Now for her wisdom...
The 3 Foundational Truths We’re Missing in the Money + Manifestation Conversation
We love talking about money, manifestation, and cultivating a wealth or abundance mindset. But there are three foundational truths that often get overlooked—three things that, once understood, can radically shift how we think about money, how we receive it, and how we keep it flowing.
Let’s dive in:
1. Money is Energy
We’ve all heard the stories: “Money is bad.” “Don’t mix family and money.” “Money changes people.” “Don’t talk about money.”
We love having money, hate when we don’t, and we judge people who do. But here’s the truth: money is just energy, an energetic conduit or tool, if you will. Now let’s take another tool — a pen! One person can use a pen and write a love letter, another person can use that same pen to write hate mail (an outdated concept, I know), but we don’t applaud the pen for allowing someone to express love or blame the pen for making someone do something harmful or hurtful! The pen simply amplifies the energy of the person using it and money works the same way!
It doesn’t change you. It amplifies that which you already are and what’s inside you, which brings me to my next point…
2. You Need to Acknowledge Your Money Story
We all have a story when it comes to money—beliefs we inherited from our families, our cultures, our past experiences.
Understanding your relationship with money can feel vulnerable, even intimidating, but this awareness gives you the power to rewrite the narrative.
My parents were immigrants in this country and left everything, sold everything to come to America. While I grew up with financial security and comfort, because of the way my parents grew up and built their lives here, I still grew up with a scarcity mindset around money. I was frugal to the point of fear, clinging to every dollar. Why? Because deep down, I didn’t feel deserving. I didn’t believe more would come. And so my relationship with money reflected that insecurity—mirrored it, even—until I consciously chose to break the cycle.
It starts with awareness. Healing your money wounds is how you begin to shift the energetic relationship you have with attracting wealth.
3. Manifestation Isn’t About Wanting—It’s About Deserving
Here’s the biggest misconception about manifestation: that it’s about wanting something badly enough. But real manifestation isn’t rooted in desire—it’s rooted in your own sense of deservedness and then creating a reality that aligns with that!
By definition, manifestation is the act of taking something that didn’t exist and bringing it into reality. And whether we’re aware of it or not, we’re manifesting all the time—through our thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and actions every single day.
So when it comes to money, it’s not just about calling it in—it’s about aligning with the energy of what money represents to you even before you ‘have it’.
Does money feel like freedom? security? power? luxury? generosity?
The question is: Are you already embodying those energies in your life?
When you are, why wouldn’t money want to show up for you as an amplifier for that energy?
Bonus Tip: If you’re into astrology, check out the sign that rules your second house (the house of money, values, and self-worth). It can give you powerful insight into how you naturally relate to money & wealth energetics.
I brought in the most money in my career when I let go of the idea of bringing in a certain amount of money. One month I got so tired of hyper-fixating on money and just said “f*ck it!” and made more than I ever had. That month I went and looked at my chart and saw that Pisces rules my second house — Pisces is the zodiac that embodies surrender, it is the antithesis of control and is all about letting things flow. Once I embodied the energy of trust and surrender, money wanted to be in my orbit!
*One quick disclaimer we wanted to add was this Substack explores money and wealth energetics for those in a stable financial place and is not intended for individuals currently experiencing financial hardship or in need of practical financial support.
Okay back to me (Ariel) now — how amazing is Rachel? While reading this I looked up that my second house is also ruled by Pisces, as if I needed any more water signs in my already very emotional universe. I’m not sure I’m ready to let things “flow” but I’ll let you know how that plays out… More on where you can find and follow Rachel below! I HIGHLY recommend booking a session with her!
That’s it for now! Now that you have the basics, if you’re ready to take manifestation action, you can also check out specific rituals here. Get focused this week on what your goals are, and next week we can dive into starting a business 101 and all of the tools I use for myself and my clients. Chat next week xoxo
